Why are there two wicks in the candles?
We use 2 wicks so the
candles burn evenly and release the maximum amount of
fragrance from the first time you light the candle right
down to the end.
What
is the burn time on the candles?
This is a very tricky
question because there are so many variables that come
into play when burning any candles, such as location
(drafts, wind, ceiling fans), amount of time of continuous
burn, proper wick trimming, etc. Some fragrances have
ingredients that create a faster burn time than others.
It's always best to follow the burn instructions on
the back of every jar to get the maximum results and
safety from your candles.
What
is the burn time on the votives?
Again, this is a tricky
question because there are so many variables that come
into play when burning any candles, such as location
(drafts, wind, ceiling fans), amount of time of continuous
burn, proper wick trimming, etc. Votives can burn differently
in various votive jars and holders.
I've
noticed some black on the jars, is this soot?
The “soot”
that most people are concerned about is the “soot”
that comes from using paraffin in candles (because of
oily residue). All items that are burned (including
alternative candles) must give off some percentages
of soot. The small percentage of soot that might be
seen on an alternative candle would be carbon from the
wicks or because the flame has gotten too high and the
wick is in need of trimming. Some scents also give off
small amounts of soot.
Where
are the candles and other products made?
All of our products are
made at the corporate office, warehouse, and manufacturing
plant located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Are
the ingredients in your candles all natural?
Our wax is made up of
all natural materials but we do not use natural scents
in the majority of our candles. It is our opinion that
most natural scents and essential oils do not produce
as good a scent nor last as long as synthetic scents.
Most of our scents are made specifically for our alternative
wax formula and in the cases where we deem that a natural
scent can function at the same level as a synthetic
we use a natural scent.
*Note: Our main goal was to address soot concerns among
“mainstream” candle buyers and their candles.
We were not looking to develop a candle for the much
smaller “all natural” market-place.
Are
your candles 100% soy?
Our original formula
was 100% soy but we found that soy was NOT the best
ingredient to develop an alternative candle from. The
reason is that 100% soy does NOT hold enough scent to
create a strong scented candle. When we designed a strongly
scented soy candle we found that scent actually rose
to the top of the candle forming a puddle at the top.
The proprietary formula we currently use is a formula
specifically designed for our candle's needs (clean
burning and also strongly scented) and is comprised
of vegetables and other natural, renewable resources.
In our opinion, although soy has the benefits of clean
burning and warm water clean up, our blend has those
benefits PLUS allows us to make the candle one of the
strongest scented candles in the market!
Are
your candle wicks lead free and self-trimming?
The wicks are lead free
and also core free (no zinc) and are made from 100%
cotton. Although our wicks are considered self trimming
we still recommend that you trim the wicks to between
1/8 and ¼ inch at all times. (Burn instructions
recommend that you NEVER burn a candle continuously
for more than 3 hours!)
Will
leaving candles in extreme heat cause any problems?
Storing your candles
in your car or anyplace where it can be exposed to extreme
heat can cause the following situations to occur:
Extreme heat can cause the candle to melt slightly,
but it will reform itself once it is no longer being
exposed to that heat. If candles are stored for a long
period of time in extreme heat (100 degrees or more)
and the storage area is unventilated you can experience
the following:
(a) candle melting
(b) the candles can lose some of their scent
(c) the candles can become slightly discolored.
Do NOT allow the candles to be exposed to sunlight
while in storage as it can discolor the candles.
Will
leaving candles in extreme cold cause any problems?
You can experience the
following if you expose your candles to extreme cold.
(20 degrees or less):
(a) if your candles are stored in a cold place you
may notice that the scent coming from the unburned candle
will not be as strong when you open the jar. That will
not affect the scent when the candle is burned and you
will also notice that the scent will return to full
strength when brought back to normal conditions
(b) the glass container holding the candle can become
more brittle while cold and cases of candles should
not be mishandled as it can cause breakage of the glass
under those conditions.
How
long do the cleansing bars last?
It would depend on the
time you spend in the shower, what you use it for and
if you let it standing in water after leaving the shower.
Most people have told us that the bar lasts a lot longer
than any cleansing bar they have ever used!
